Oral and Maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Wayne manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Wayne practices a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant
surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Our staff is trained in assisting with intravenous (IV) sedation or outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
The surgical staff at Gary J. Wayne, DMD, are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.
Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
A preoperative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing IV anesthesia for surgery. Please have nothing to eat or drink eight hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an adult to drive you home.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, drugs for osteoporosis, etc.).
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

To accomplish this we work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. We are a preferred provider for many PPO Dental plans including; Aetna, Cigna, Florida Combined Life, Guardian, MetLife, Delta Dental, Principal, Humana, United Healthcare, Assurant, Sunlife, Lincoln, Ameritas, and BCBS.
